Promoting Redwall’s 20th Anniversary

20th Anniversary Edition Floor Display

Something I’ve been meaning to get up all week concerns the way Redwall will be marketed come this Fall.

We know the four major releases on the way (Eulalia!, the Graphic Novel, the 20th Anniversary Edition and the Gift Package), we know about the Eulalia! trading cards… but what else can we expect? Well, a few things, actually. New listings have popped up on Amazon for 20th Anniversary bookmarks and a 20th Anniversary poster. I think it would be a mistake, though, to assume these are commercial products– more likely they’re promotional material offered to bookstores that erroneously found their way onto Amazon’s listing, as has happened in the past. We’ll likely see bookstores passing them out for free like the trading cards (the bookmarks, anyway– the poster is likely for advertising purposes).

We also have a peek at a very impressive display– made up to look like a section of Redwall Abbey– that will turn up at bookstores this October (see above). Bookstores that choose to use the display will find it filled with 5 copies of the 20th Anniversary Edition, 9 copies of Eulalia!, and 3 copies each of Redwall, Mossflower, Mattimeo, Mariel of Redwall, Salamandastron and Martin the Warrior.

While on the subject, a similar display is being offered for the Voyage of Slaves paperback release in August, but it’s rather standard fare– a cardboard blow-up of the book’s cover atop a nondescript Penguin Group stand (see below). Keep an eye out for it, as well (especially if you haven’t gotten the book yet).

Stay tuned to the Newsline for more details.
