Yep, that’s a Triss cover.

Triss Cover Art

And thus, the Triss cover is mainstream. ;)

Redwall.org has posted their own scan of Triss‘ cover. As it’s clearer than the previous scan, I’ve posted it here. I once again thank Berilac, though, for sending us the cover to begin with.

What’s of an even greater interest, though, is what Dave had to say about Elliot (the first official word since I reported Elliot was named the illustrator for Triss more than a month ago).

“Previously, the American editions were illustrated by Troy Howell, and the British/Canadian editions were illustrated by Chris Baker, aka Fangorn. Triss is entirely illustrated, both for the cover and the chapter headings, by David Elliot.”

That implies that this is a universal cover and will be used for both the UK and US editions. It mimics Howell’s style well, though. This could be a repeat of last year, when Redwall.org credited the Howell drawn US cover for Taggerung to Peter Standley, but I doubt it. That said, the news doesn’t create a sense of excitement for me. Instead, I feel regret over the fact that we may have seen our last Troy Howell (who has been with Redwall since the beginning) and Chris “Fangorn” Baker covers.

Dave plans on posting a preview soon, so we’ll keep an eye out. In the meantime, Snowfur has posted one of the chapter illustrations on The Redwall Encyclopedia. A nice sample of Elliot’s illustrative capabilities.

In other news, VideoFlicks has posted the box art for the second North American VHS release, Cluny’s Clowns.

That does it for now. I’ll keep you posted.
