Today is August 15th. Do you know what that means?
If you guessed “The Long Patrol’s Anniversary”, then you’re right.
FIVE years ago, The Long Patrol was founded. I’ve been running this site and club for five years, uninterrupted. As a matter of fact, The LP is the only Redwall club on the ‘net to run, uninterrupted, for five years at the same location. As long as I’m throwing facts out, the only two Redwall sites out there, to my knowledge, that were up before mine (and are still up) are A Redwall Homepage and Redwall.org. So, as you can imagine, this is quite the milestone for me.
Five years. Hard to believe.
Normally, on the site’s Anniversary, I have some updates for you. Well, sorry. See, I intended to update some of the sections today, but instead lost track of time celebrating with friends. The rest of my time was spent taking care of all the applicants from Open-Membership July (BTW, ALL applications have been processed and the confirmation letters have gone out). So, unfortunately, the updates will have to wait until tomorrow.
I won’t leave you empty handed, though. Here’s some news I’ve been sitting on for the last few days (which, somehow, hasn’t made it to the other site’s yet).
Christopher Denise, the illustrator of The Great Redwall Feast and A Redwall Winter’s Tale, has posted three sample pages from Winter’s Tale in his portforlio. Now, before I give you the link, I want to stress that the images on Chris’ site are NOT for reuse on other Redwall sites. That’s why I’m not uploading them here. Besides, the guy is such a talented artist that he deserves all the hits he can get on his own site. So, if you want to spread the word about the sample pages, just LINK TO HIM. And make sure others know not to redistribute the pictures.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, the three pages can be viewed here on Chris’ Site.
But, wait, that’s not all. Also, it appears that Winter’s Tale will have an official site all it’s own. There’s nothing all that fancy on it at the moment, but there is a Flash animation and a few more hints of the artwork. It’s worth a visit: RedwallWinter.com.
And there’s one last bit of news. The fifth Redwall video has been announced for the UK (still PAL format, US fans. Sorry). It’s entitled “The Final Conflict“, will contain episodes 10-13, and will be a two tape set. It’s slated for release September 17th.
That’s all for tonight. I’m off to finish celebrating. Five years! Thanks for sticking with me.
